MCAC Baseball Athletes of the Week: Week of April 15-21 (2024)

TheMinnesota College Athletic Conference(MCAC)has released its baseball weekly awards for the week of April 15-21.

Asahi Sato, a right-handed pitcher for Riverland Community College, has been named this week'sMCACSouth Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Sato grabbed a win in his one start this week, scattering five hits over ten innings and giving up only one unearned run. He struck out six batters and walked one, helping his team to a weekend split with Century College. Seth Tierney, 1B/DH for Century College, went 6 for 12 from the plate, hitting .500 with three home runs, five RBI, five runs, and a walk. Tierney led his Wood Ducks to a split over Riverland Community College and earned this week'sMCACSouth Division Baseball Position Player of the Weekhonor.

Alexandria Technical and Community College'spitcher, Levi Lampert, threw a one-hitter in his five-inning starting win this week to earn him this week'sMCAC Central Division Baseball Pitcher of the Weekaward. Lampert struck out six batters and did not give up a walk in the outing. Ridgewater College centerfielder Sam Etterman had an impressive week at the plate and from the mound. Etterman went 7 for 17 from the plate, hitting .411 on the week with two doubles, a home run, six RBI, and nine runs scored. He also threw a complete game three-hitter, striking out five batters and not giving up a walk to earn this week'sMCAC Central Division Baseball Position Player of the Week award.

Isaac Mata, a right-handed pitcher for Northland Community and Technical College, has earned this week'sMCACNorth Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week. Mata went 1-0 this week, throwing five innings without giving up a run and scattering two hits while striking out six batters. He did not give up a walk and also hit .416 from the plate with a triple, four RBI, and three stolen bases. Teammate Connor Hoyt, a Pioneers outfielder,hit .538, going 7 for 13 from the plate with two doubles and a triple. He drove in four runs, scored three runs, and walked once to earn the week'sMCACNorth Division Baseball Position Player of the Weekaward.
