Regional Transit Service (RTS) is urging its customers to adopt realistic expectations and plan accordingly due to the total solar eclipse that will occur on Monday, April 8. With local officials projecting an influx of 300,000 to 500,000 visitors to the Finger Lakes region, RTS is expecting significant traffic delays leading up to and following the eclipse. RTS encourages customers to allow for plenty of extra travel time.

Regional Transit Service (RTS) announced today that it is extending Route 24 Bay Street to the Waring Road Plaza. The extension of this route will provide customers with access to the New York State Department of Labor RochesterWorks! Career Center, Monroe County WIC, the U.S. Postal Service, Norton Village Recreation Center, Family Dollar, and the Fernwood Park Apartments. The extension of Route 24 Bay Street begins on Monday, April 1, 2024.

During a virtual press conference today, New York State lawmakers and the Regional Transit Service (RTS) called for the inclusion of robust funding for public transit in the final state budget. New York State Assemblymembers Sarah Clark, Jennifer Lunsford, and Demond Meeks, and Senators Samra Brouk and Jeremy Cooney joined RTS CEO Miguel Velázquez for the press conference. RTS seeks a 15% increase in funding and new, sustainable dedicated revenue sources to fund growth of transit system.

The appropriation was included in the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development or THUD appropriations bill and supported by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, and Congressman Joe Morelle.

Regional Transit Service (RTS) announced today that it is implementing some changes to its service starting on Monday, January 1, 2024, that will provide access to key job sites in Monroe County. Service adjustments to RTS Connect routes will provide access to key job sites at T-Mobile and the new UR Medicine Orthopaedic Center.

At a press conference today, Regional Transit Service (RTS) unveiled a themed bus that has been wrapped to show appreciation for military veterans. The bus will make its debut at the 2023 Veterans Day parade in Rochester on Saturday, November 11, and will then be in service through the month of November.

Regional Transit Service (RTS) is looking to improve its transit services in Genesee, Livingston, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, and Wyoming Counties. Building on the success of updated transit services in Monroe County and the City of Rochester, this study is expanding focus to rural areas to complete region-wide transit improvements. This project will examine the service needs in these seven counties, with the goal of the study focused on identifying opportunities for on-demand, technology-driven, point-to-point transit services as an option for residents of the study area.

To celebrate the start of construction, Regional Transit Service (RTS) broke ground today on its new facility in Wyoming County. Construction of the new facility is now underway and scheduled for completion in late summer or early fall of 2024.
